Hypocrisy Alert! Deaker condemns Bakkies Botha as a "thug" (July 11, 2011)

Hypocrisy Alert! Deaker condemns Bakkies Botha as a "thug"

In last night's test match in Auckland, Springbok player Bakkies Botha committed a pretty despicable footballing crime: he headbutted an All Black opponent. Today, at 1:30 p.m. on NewstalkZB, Murray Deaker fumed about this act of thuggery: "Bakkies Botha is a thug! And it's made worse because he professes to be a man of God. I don't usually worry
about a man's religion but he's made a point of mentioning it so I think we need to make comment on it. He is a THUG."
This denunciation of Botha's transgressions might carry more authority
if Deaker had not spent the last three days vehemently defending the
right of footballers to rape unconscious women. Indeed, it was on
Deaker's TV show that Dumbo Haden delivered his wandery defence of
rape. It was on Deaker's show also, six weeks ago, that Dumbo told
those lies about the Canterbury Crusaders. Deaker sat stone-faced on
both occasions as Dumbo raved.
This is nothing new, of course---over the past twenty years, Deaker
has loudly and repeatedly insisted that Pacific Islanders lack the
intelligence and discipline to play football well, and have "dumbed
down" the game in this country, that Maoris and Islanders "lack the
necessary concentration" for cricket, and their sheer physical prowess
is frightening off white children. All of this is sheer nonsense, of
course, but Deaker has been the main source of this racist bilge for a
generation now, and it's no surprise at all that Dumbo Haden chose
Deaker's show as the receptacle for his fantasies about the Canterbury
Crusaders.
Next to Murray Deaker's continual spewing of intolerance and racial
bigotry, as well as his recent enhusiasm for rape of unconscious
women, I would suggest that Bakkies Botha throwing a head-butt is
small beer indeed.
