On Saturday morning a Kiwi hero returns. What time does Pete Bethune arrive back in Auckland? Anybody know?
Saturday night---another group of Kiwi heroes goes into action. Let's hope the All Blacks play with something like the raw courage, integrity and tenacity displayed by Pete Bethune and his crew.
Go the All Blacks!!!

New Zealand's slaughterhouses violate no international laws. Pete
threw harmless butyric acid at those pirates, not something dangerous
or harmful as your use of the word "acid" would imply.

Your analogy is not only inappropriate, it's harebrained.

Do you actually do any serious research before you fly into print?
Bethune tried to serve the captain of that illegal whaling ship with a
writ for the damage inflicted on his boat. He was fully entitled to do
that. The New Zealand government was obliged to support one of their
citizens when he was assaulted and kidnapped by a rogue regime. But of
course, they won't even support one of their own members of parliament
when he is manhandled in New Zealand by foreign goons, so I'm sure
Pete did not really expect even token governmental support.

Pete Bethune was the pirate?!!?? Not the scoff-law whaling boat that
abducted him to Japan? Even by the Cawstonian Scale of Absurdity, that
must be one of the loopiest things you've ever posted.

Nonsense. You're ascribing a motive to the anti-whaling protestors
that you want them to have.
that you want them to have.

Who said that? Other than yourself or the profoundly dishonest PR

Yes it does. That is the basis of the joint Australian-New Zealand
case against Japan.

Why should the Sea Shepherd activists not use the fact that the law is
on their side? How does the fact that they are defending international
law in any way diminish from the moral and humanitarian force of their
argument?

How so? The fact that the Sea Shepherd case is legally AND morally
watertight makes me a hypocrite how, exactly?

Not when that ship is breaking international law. Bethune and Sea
Shepherd were doing what the New Zealand and Australian governments
would have done if they had an ounce of courage.

What is more important than sticking up for your own citizens when
they suffer an act of piracy at the hands of a scoff-law regime?

You're fantasising. Bethune has a great number of admirers---in Japan,
as well as in this country.
