A couple of disturbing features in the article...
1. "The incident led the French government to declare war on racism
and prompted a snap visit to Paris by Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan
Shalom, who urged tougher punishment in France for the perpetrators of
anti-Semitic acts."

BREEN COMMENTS: Why did the Israeli foreign minister involve himself?
He speaks for Israel, not for Jewish people. I wonder if the Israeli
government would tolerate a militant Islamic leader coming into the
Occupied Territories, urging tougher (or any) punishment for the
perpetrators every time a terrorist-settler murders a Palestinian
child or the Israeli army demolishes a Palestinian home.

up the entire incident, and was given a four-month suspended sentence
for lying about it."

Precisely. Zionist groups in France and overseas didn't hesitate to
portray this hoax as an anti-semitic attack, though.

It was the article that pointed that out. I always take pains to

This is a good point.
On the one hand, Israel and Jews are not one and the same.
Though it is very much in Israel's interests to portray them as being one
and the same.
and the same.
In this way, they can use the worldwide Jewish community as hostages to
their foreign policy.
their foreign policy.
Yet a particular Jewish person, living in Wellington or wherever, may be
absolutely opposed to the policies of the Israeli government.....yet find
himself the victim of "anti-semitic" acts done in response to actions taken
by the Israeli government.

.....and they may well be.
It's such a useful foreign policy tool for Israel, one could be forgiven for
speculating that its usefulness may be supplemented from time to time by
the purposeful actions of Israeli agents.

In recent weeks we have seen a former Israeli millitary officer play a key
role in the downfall of the Governor of the US state of New Jersey...and
just this week, we hear the FBI is investigating as a possible spy for
Israel, someone who works for the US Defense Dept's Donald Fieth.

Why they aren't investigating Feith himself is a bit of a wonder as he has
had close ties with Ariel Sharon for years and is one of the authors of the
"Clean Break" policy employed by the Israeli Likud Party =- which lead to
the current 5-year Intifada.

You may find you have trouble getting Tilly to acknowledge this point no
matter how many times you explain it.

There are some thing that simply can't be thought. Bilstien has the same
problem.

Dear Mr Phease,
That is not a problem. However, what raised eyebrows around here (at
the Daisycutter Sports office) was your sudden assertion that you
"deplore some of Breen's comments". As you have no prior history of
Breen-baiting, this seemed an odd thing to say. We think you should
at least give us some idea of what you "deplore" in Morrissey's
comments.

I don't read everything that is posted here, and I respond to only a small
proportion of what I read. I could conveivably deplore a comment without
remarking on it for all to see. Some of what you write I agree with but
not all of it. I can't think of an example off the top of my head, but
sometimes you say things that are silly and potentially offensive. Maybe
in the future I will express my disapproval for your edification.

I often disagree with Tilly and I think that she can be one-eyed and I
find her analysis simplistic, but she comes across as kind, so I couldn't
deplore any of her comments.

On a scale of Tilly - Redbaiter, you don't really rate for offensiveness,
so I wouldn't really want to make a big thing of it.
