Comic Relief: Sarah Palin on Egypt
by ROBERT DREYFUSS, February 6, 2011
Sarah Palin, in her first comments on Egypt, managed to make no sense
at all. None. I especially liked her “not, not real enthused about
what it is that that’s being done [in DC].” Here’s the full quote,
which sounds like it was written by Miss South Carolina, speaking for
all “US Americans”....
"And nobody yet has, nobody yet has explained to the American public
what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know who
it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and no, not, not real
enthused about what it is that that’s being done on a national level
and from DC in regards to understanding all the situation there in
Egypt. And, in these areas that are so volatile right now, because
obviously it’s not just Egypt but the other countries too where we are
seeing uprisings, we know that now more than ever, we need strength
and sound mind there in the White House. We need to know what it is
that America stands for so we know who it is that America will stand
with. And, we do not have all that information yet.”

As someone has noted, the punctuation is not designed to assist Palin. I
watched and listened to the address and also found it halting.. but I
generally got the gist of uncertainty she was trying to put across, ie,
she didn't know the critical question of who or what was driving the
Egyptian revolution, and until we know that we cannot know who to support.
That was a week ago, and now the NYT comes out with the then unknown,
shadowy leaders of the movement and Palins hopes/concerns are vindicated:
Yep, it was an organised event of educated people who recruited the
Muslim Brotherhood organisation skills to their cause, and whom they
hope to control.
Palins uncertainties and concerns are thus verified and justified by the
NYT.
Incidentally, Drefuss is on a US tour promoting "civility" in political
discourse, and he described a recent call for Cheney to die suddenly as
"beautifully phrased". Ho hum.. another useful idiot for the useless idiots.

Hilarious! He seems to take Palin seriously! But hang on---that's not
a surprise. This is John Cawston, after all. Compared to some of the
things he's posted on this forum over the years, a few rambling and
disconnected words by America's laughingstock politician come across
like the Gettysburg Address...

Hilarious!---"the gist of uncertainty". That's Cawston-spin for "the
utter confusion of her mind."

Cawston, like Palin, misses the point: it doesn't matter who he and
Palin support: this is for the egyptians to decide.

No they are not. Palin is as clueless on this issue as she showed
herself to be clueless on every single issue she grappled with so
touchingly during that doomed but blackly hilarious 2008 "vice-
presidential campaign" of hers.

Yawn, another pathetic hatchet attempt by a leftie so-called

Obama is not much better than Palin. He is of course vastly more
intelligent than her or John McCain, but he lacks courage and
integrity. As Norman Finkelstein has pointed out, if Obama was not
black, we'd all be recognising the fact that he is just as much of a
cynical machine politician as Bill Clinton.

Ah, so it's up to the Egyptians to decide who JC, Palin and of course
America should support? Ohhhhkay.

Are you talking about the campaign that almost won the election of the
Republicans and woke up the Obamamites who had been sleep walking
their way to victory?

Yet when guy who happens to be a member of the Tea Party says the same
thing about Obama it's reported all over the news as serious.
But I finally get you. You're actually a conservative playing the role
of ass-clown leftie commentator. Brilliant! Well done!

No, you are willfully misunderstanding our point, Bubba. That point
is: Egypt's fate must rest in the hands of the Egyptians. It's called
democracy. Remember democracy?---It's what the U.S. and Britain and
France have conspired to crush in the Middle East---in Egypt, Iran and
Palestine, to name just three of the more outrageous examples.

What campaign? Palin did not have a clue about anything, and neither
did McCain. It's an indictment of the Democratic Party and of the
Obama campaign that they were still competitive.

I'm a conservative far more than you are. I believe in the rule of
law, and democracy and human rights. You and others on the lunatic
fringe (AKA the radical right) do not.

Its an important question.
Those fine people want Democracy, among other things, so lets look at
what they want..
According to the 2010 Pew Survey on Moslems the Egyptians want stoning
for adultery (82%), cutting off hands and feet for theft (77%), death
penalty for leaving the Muslim religion (84%).
As 90% of Egyptian women have had clitoridictomies we can be sure this
is what those Democrats in the crowds also want.
Whilst a majority want Democracy (59%), that is the second lowest
support of the 6 countries polled, and a majority want Sharia law. About
half support the terrorist organisation Hamas and 20% support Osama.
Mubarak might be an arsehole, but he doesn't support these things.  So
while any dictator should go its what replaces them that counts. For
Egypt, will it be one man, one vote.. one time.. and Sharia law at that?
If it is, we are in for a power of trouble.

Hamas is the elected government of the Palestinian Territories. It is
no more terrorist than any other government. Certainly it is a
pacifist organisation compared to the Israeli regime.

Again, where does this fantasist get his stats?
>

Mubarak's role was to turn a blind eye as Israel carried out its
massacres in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. He has done his job
effectively, and reaped almost unimaginable financial rewards as a
result. That's probably the main reason he is hated and despised by
the Egyptian people.

Hooray! (One moment of sanity and honesty in a Cawston post is a
reason to cheer.)

"We" are not in for a power of trouble. This democratic revolt means
that Israel and its sponsor state (the USA) are in a power of trouble.
What a pity for them that they can't just crush democracy this time
like they did in Iran in 1954, and like they tried to do in the
Occupied Territories in 2006.

Poll indicate that by far the majority of Americans don't want Palin for
President.
The last poll I read a week or so ago had her at 17 % popularity, way
behind other possible candidates.

Palin has courage and she has integrity she has more than 90%-95% of
politicians.
She receiving her bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis
in journalism in 1987, so she has some education.  Essentially and
Arts Degree.
She has experience administering Alaska.
Stupid things about her would be  that she essentially is a "Christian
Zionist", the kow-towing to political correctness (witness or blog on
MLK day) and the general lack of a legal education.

Wrong. You've misconstrued her crass ignorance and determined know-
nothing attitude. Fortunately, most Republican voters in the United
States can see she has neither courage nor integrity.

That's a very low standard to hold her to. Politicians are not noted
for courage or integrity.

She is utterly unsuited to public office. Even by the dismal standards
of American politics, she is way below par.
