U.S. version of Murray Deaker insults black athlete
Oct. 2, 2003

Some of you will have heard of an exceedingly unpleasant, rotund,
ultra-conservative radio and TV "pundit" named Rush Limbaugh. He's an
American version of Paul Holmes, except Limbaugh wisely refrains from
employing crude racist abuse when he's actually on air.
Limbaugh has fashioned a reputation as an extraordinarily ignorant,
hate-spewing buffoon.  Recently he has been squeaking out non-stop
invective against Americans who opposed the rogue Bush
administration's illegal invasion of Iraq.  Limbaugh has referred to
them, on various occasions, as "fascists and anti-Americans", and
"anti-American, anti-capitalist marxists and communists", and other
equally ridiculous Redbaiter-like terms.
Now although, unlike Paul Holmes, he does not publicly call black
people "darkies" or "niggers", Limbaugh has similarly insulting racial
opinions to the self-proclaimed "good man" of New Zealand television.
Recently, Limbaugh has been shooting off his ignorant mouth again,
this time about Donovan McNab, the Buffalo Bills quarterback.
McNab has led his team to two NFC championships and has been to the
Pro Bowl three times.  He is smart, quick, brave - an ideal pro
football quarterback, who earned the admiration of millions of fans
after he courageously returned to the NFL after suffering a broken
ankle.
None of this impresses Limbaugh though.  For some obscure, odd reason,
Limbaugh has moved from being an ignorant political hate-monger to
being a highly paid TV football "analyst".  The other day, on ESPN's
pre-game show, Limbaugh announced that he reckons McNab (who is what
Holmes would call a "darkie") is "over-rated", and the only reason he
has been so highly thought of was because "this guy has been elevated
to a certain status" because people in the media were "very desirous
of having a black quarterback do well".
Leading  American sports broadcaster Jim Rome called these claims
"garbage", and poured scorn on Limbaugh for his ignorance.  Callers to
Rome's radio show also expressed their anger against, and contempt
for, Limbaugh.   One caller wondered how long it will be before
Limbaugh brings out the old crapola about blacks making better
receivers than quarterbacks.
THE BREEN QUESTION:
Can you imagine MURRAY DEAKER or his moronic acolyte MARTIN DEVLIN
having the decency, integrity or intelligence to take a similar stand
to Jim Rome? Or would they agree completely with Limbaugh?
