Pam Corkery demands basic standards of decency from the dumbest audience in NZ (Feb. 6, 2013)

NewstalkZB, Wednesday 6 February 2013, 8:10 p.m.

A plea from Pam Corkery to her audience....

"I've been listening to this station all day. I've heard people saying 'My best friend is a Maori', and "Oh I like the EDUCATED Maoris' and 'Why can't they just get on with it like the rest of us?' Honestly, to hear talk like that all day on Waitangi Day just DRAINS MY SOUL. So
please, somebody with opposable thumbs give us a ring..."

Remarkable! A NewstalkZB host asking for intelligent and reasonable callers. How utterly different to Kerre Woodham, who usually fills this slot.

The irony of course all the people with opposable thumbs are not listing to
News Talk.

The problem is not the listeners, it's the hosts and, most crucial of
all, the management that appoint and stand by the likes of Holmes,
Leighton Smith, Larry Williams and Bruce Russell. Even NewstalkZB has
some intelligent hosts---well, Pam Corkery and Peter Wolfkamp anyway---
and when they are on, the quality of callers improves dramatically.

No, they are using their opposable thumbs for various handyman and gardening
jobs.
