Newstalk ZB continues to be outlet for vilest bigotry (Jan. 4, 2004)

In a week in which we bid farewell to one of world radio's most
outstanding broadcasters, it comes as a jolt to listen to the fare we
are served up on New Zealand's most popular commercial radio station.
I guess it's always a bad week for Newstalk ZB, if you judge that
dismal radio station by the quality of its output. Newstalk ZB hosts
can get away with anything, it seems. Leighton Smith, that orotund
bag of pomposity and bigotry, called Muhammad Ali a "nigger" on air;
self-described "good man" Paul Holmes last year laughed sardonically
at reports of prisoners being tortured in Guantanamo Bay, then later
achieved worldwide notoriety when he called Kofi Annan a "cheeky
darkie"; sports bully Murray Deaker disgusted and incensed listeners
by bawling repeatedly that Maori people "lack the concentration" to
play cricket and by his moronic backing of the threatening and
demeaning Blackguard campaign.
Outrageous, stupid, banal, nasty commentary is a hallmark of Newstalk
ZB.  It hardly came as a surprise, then, to hear the idiocy spouted
over the last couple of days...
Tuesday 30/3/04: 7:50 a.m. Paul Holmes expresses a degree of concern
over the latest reports of prisoners being tortured in Guantanamo Bay.
This might at first glance seem encouraging; after all, Holmes
usually finds torture a source of great amusement.   But then he
finishes up his expressions of mild concern with a snide question:
"But who STARTED it, eh?" Now, correct moi If I'm wrong, but didn't
the USA "start it"? Holmes, of course, is well aware of that, too.
Being a venomous advocate of U.S. foreign "policy", however, he's
never going to admit it. A little hand-wringing about the torture of
wrongfully arrested British citizens is as far as Holmes will ever go
in the advocacy of human rights.
Wednesday 31/3/04: Holmes might be one of the world's most
mealy-mouthed creeps, but he is certainly not the only one spouting
crap on Newstalk ZB. Reading the 7:00 a.m. news is one BARRY HOLLAND,
a pleasant enough chap, to be sure.  However, it appears that  Holland
either does not read his scripts carefully, or does not have the guts
to correct them. Surely Holland must have spotted the moronic,
insulting error in this little item: "Alistair Cooke has died, aged
95 years. His 'Letter from America' ran for 58 years, and was the
world's longest-running talk radio programme." Now, Cooke's style,
delivery, content and intelligence was about as far removed from what
we call "talk radio" as it is possible to be. For Holland, or some
hopeless copywriter, to say the great man was a "talk radio" person
is about the most ridiculous thing I've heard since President Bush
declared, on his state visit to Britain, that "Tony tells the truth."
But that's not all! You think Holmes' expressing some concerns
yesterday about the USA torturing prisoners might signal a retreat
from his extreme chickenhawk stance? Well, think again.  At 7:25
a.m., the "good man" burbles enthusiastically over some recent
magazine reading he's been doing:  "May I just commend to you a piece in the March 23 edition of the Spectator by MARK STEYN...."   Now, nz.general readers will be well aware of this fellow Steyn.  He is perhaps the vilest of all the vile chickenhawks spewing out messages
of hatred in the rabid right wing press, from the Spectator to  the
Moonie-owned Washington Times. Steyn is a vicious, hateful, sneering,
utterly discredited war-monger. A chickenhawk, in other words. The
article which Holmes "commends"  is a smug farrago of Bush
administration lies, asserting that Iraq is "better off" since the
Coalition of the Killing's tender ministrations, and making great play
of some bogus survey that "shows" Iraqi people are "happy" about their
country being invaded by Saddam's former collaborators. Holmes reads
all ten of Steyn's points as if they are holy writ.
Verdict: Steyn is a lying, cowardly piece of vileness.  Holmes, who
chose to endorse, and "commend" Steyn's spurious article to Newstalk
ZB listeners, is no better.
Newstalk ZB's corporate slogan is, absurdly, "Tune your mind".  Would
it not be better to change it to "Close your mind"?

Y'know Mowwisey, its just mind boggling that anyone can display
such rank bigotry and hypocrisy. One could just imagine you
ranting this way on some podium in Germany in 1939, or in Nth
Korea or Libya or Zimbabwe or Cuba. Anywhere and any time that
hate and fear and intolerance were the driving force in a
society, rather than freedom of speech and democracy.
One could just imagine you as Fidel or Kim or Mumwar giving the
order to fire as Stein stood blindfolded in front of some firing
squad of lickspittle communist goons.
Steyn is not any of the things you call him, least of all a
liar. (if you maintain he is a liar, why not produce a lie?) In
fact he is a refreshingly honest and funny writer who
appreciates the need to laugh at the politically correct social
restraints you and your sick communist ilk would try to apply.
That he makes fun of your protocols, and that he disagrees so
often with your views, does not make him a liar, or vile, or a
coward. Your views are only views Mowwisey nothing more nothing
less. They are not facts, and if you weren't so brainwashed and
psychotic and so intolerant of those who do not agree with your
oh so politically correct world view, you would know this.
White ants like you Mowwisey, eating away at democracy and
freedom from the inside, and defaming and falsely accusing all
who disagree with you, are the worse kind of scum. Leighton had
you tabbed, and we need a lot more like him, prepared to call a
spade a spade and tell you disgusting people what psychotics you
are, than we need of totalitarian maggots like you.

You are correct Redbaiter, Mowissey is a far-leftist kneejerker, who I have
caught out telling lies on at least two occasions in the last few days. He
has the gall to accuse others of lying, when he does it himself if it suits
his agenda.....unless he just recyceles the 'literature' he reads and
repeats it almost verbatim .

I agree, it's quite possible Mowissey would have done a 'Kim Philby'
...........
He seems to think he has a superior intellect ,more insight and knowledge of
the truth. His remark about the polls in Iraq, when even the BBC said it was
very surprised at the results of the independent poll it commissioned across
Iraq .He knows better how the Iraqi people are feeling when he hasn't even
been near the place.....LOL......<sigh>

Bween suffers from the same psychosis as his like commie buddy
Steve Withers, in that he appears to not know the difference
between opinion and fact. Withers is so demented he even had the
gall to post a message here attempting to justify such a insane
view, stating that people who persisted in disagreeing with him
were proven liars.
Completely off their commie rockers.

I don't "accuse" others of lying; I demonstrate their lies.  In almost
every case, the liars I have shown up - Bliar, Bush, Gerard Henderson,
Tony Blankley and many others - have had their lies documented
exhaustively by other people too.

I read lots of literature about lots of things.  i don't read narrowly
and with a closed mind, as you are so ineptly suggesting.

You know the truth as well as I do, Tilly.  Whether you can bring
yourself to admitting it is another thing.  I understand why you
don't, at this stage.

The "poll" was a nonsense, as the angry, terrible demonstration in
Fallujah showed yesterday.

I haven't been near the place but, as well as reading about it and
listening to the radio, I can garner a pretty good insight into what's
going on there through an exciting device called a Tele-Vision.  Maybe
you've heard of it.

You lied about Israeli schools, repeated Palestinian propoganda about what
is in their textbooks and claimed they teach Israeli children to hate. Not
only are you wrong, it against the law to teach or incite hatred in
Israel. Then you claimed that Rabbi Ovaida directs the course of politics in
Israe,l which is so ignorant it's funny. What's more you claim to have a

Fallujah is in the Sunni triangle and a centre for SH supporters.
Did you not *listen* to what local people said about what happened.? Most of
them didn't come out of their houses, they were so disgusted and dismayed
by what was happening. In fact in an interrview someone speaking for the town
said it was the work of the worst of extremists and most of the locals do
not support them. That was on the BBC.You do they think they report
accurately I presume?

"Ranting"?  What I wrote was carefully composed and well supported.
If you want "ranting", listen to Holmes or one of his Newstalk ZB
colleagues raving against unions, Maori people or black people (they
call them "darkies" or "niggers" or "boofheads").  As Hurree Singh
would have put it: the hatefulness is terrific.

I could, if I needed to, live with any kind of creep except for
totalitarians.
Politically correct leftist thugs who call for radio stations to
be shut down, and for announcers to be fired, and for newsgroups
to be "moderated" are the real enemies of freedom and democracy.

The fact is, Russell:  most of all, Steyn is a liar.  The cowardice
and the hypocrisy are human failings which we can forgive; the lying
is far more sinister.  And unforgiveable.

Steyn is a seemingly inexhaustible supporter of the rogue Bush
administration, the Coalition of the Killing, and the terror regime in
Israel.   Of course, if you support ONE of those things, you will
support them all - exceptions like David Pears, who supports
Palestinian rights while simultaneously supporting the Americans who
conspire to deny those rights, are few and far between.

Of course not.  He would be all those things whether I pointed them

how must Powell's colleagues be feeling after being so exposed by
Powell's admissions?

Please don't tell me what I know. What I know relates to what I
