You'd think writers of such talent and intelligence would see right through that vicious smear campaign and realise at once it had nothing to do with antisemitism in the Labour party and everything to do with getting rid of Corbyn. Why on earth couldn't they see that? I know we all have blind spots but this seems a wilful blindness with some underlying motive. Still baffled by it. It's simply cowardice. If they'd lived in 1930s Russia, they would have voiced their assent to Stalin's terror. If they'd lived in 1960s China, they would have been in the crowds hurling abuse at landlords about to be executed in the public square.
