Jim Mora expresses astonishment about Hong Kong, but is silent re Gaza massacres
RNZ National, Sunday 24 November 2019, 8:45 a.m.
Jim Mora, the man who laughs at the suffering of political prisoners*, has finally developed a conscience. Or has he? ……
JIM MORA: Anthony Dapiran is a Hong Kong-based writer and lawyer and the author ofCity of Protest: A Recent History of Dissent in Hong Kong, and the upcoming City on Fire: The Fight for Hong Kong. He joins me now. The police are arresting school children. REALLY?
ANTHONY DAPIRAN: Yes, they are.
MORA: REALLY? Has it come to this? ….
…..ad nauseam…..
I sent the host the following email….
You express astonishment about Hong Kong, but are silent re Gaza massacres.
Dear Jim,
You seem astonished, even perturbed, at the authorities in Hong Kong arresting schoolchildren—“Has it come to this?” you asked Anthony Dapiran. Of course, compared to the mass shootings and maimings inflicted by Israeli snipers on protestors in Gaza, the Hong Kong authorities have been the model of restraint and care. I have never heard you express a word of incredulity or concern at the shooting of thousands of Palestinian schoolchildren, old people, disabled people, doctors, nurses, ambulance people, and journalists.
Yours sincerely,
Morrissey Breen
