10 ways to criticise Israel without being anti-semitic
A useful article on how one can criticise Israel without being anti-Semitic. Their 10 guidelines are:
- Acknowledge Israel and Israelis exist
- Jews are not the same as Israel
- Criticise specific policies
- Make a fair attempt to understand Israeli policies
- Speak from a place of accuracy, knowledge and context
- Work towards solutions, not the destruction of Israel
- Recognise the conflict is not one-sided
- Avoid known racist tropes about Jews
- Recognise Jewish indigeneity to Israel
- Don’t blame Israel for the world’s ills
What is striking about this list is how a certain MPs in the NZ Parliament don’t come even close to half these points.
