The only reason I can think for why they would ask a prominent political radical/revolutionary (i.e. someone whose politics they are allergic to) to present an Emmy is to leftwash Bellingcat. So I suspect the whole farce was cynically orchestrated for that reason. In Hedges' defense, I'm sure he didn't know who would be getting the award. But why he would have agreed to be a presenter at an event he once described as representing "cultural death" is anyone's guess. I doubt he'll ever do it again.
