Did you notice Jeremy 'developing and growing' during the campaign? He has been the MP for SW Surrey since 2005, ie 14 long years.
'Denise Le Gal, chairman of the South West Surrey Conservative Association branch, and one of those to join Mr Hunt on his travels, said she was “clearly very disappointed” by the result but was “very, very proud” of Mr Hunt, adding it had been “such a joy to see him develop and grow” during the leadership battle.' That from a local rag made me laugh. Ms Le Gal obviously suffers from foot in mouth disease and did not mean to liken him to a runner bean plant that she had nurtured. http://www.farnhamherald.com/archive.cfm?sectionIs=news&cat=Politics The SW Surrey Tories raised £thousands to get him elected last time. He was opposed by Louise Irvine, National Health Action Party, who had led the campaign to save Lewisham Hospital. Hunt's majority was much reduced in 2017 cf 2015. He was 8,000 votes down. He was originally a shoe in from Virginia Bottomley, who had been the MP from 1984-2005. |
