- Love the way people suddenly become experts in firefighting while the fire itself is still burning.
- I know almost nothing about firefighting. I do know that France, like other Western countries, spends incredible amounts on weapons of destruction and not enough on firefighting.
- You know they invested in 'too short ladder and hosepipes' precisely *how*?
- because TV images show the ladders reaching 2/3 to the top.
- That's because a normal motorised ladder has a maximum height of 30m and the nave is 35m high. There are virtually no ladders that would reach that high. It's really quite simple. The fire is still burning. Might be an idea to learn a bit more before using it for politics, non?
- A nation that has spent billions on nuclear weapons and their delivery systems has not developed a better technology than a 30m ladder for firefighting. A point which requires a tiny amount of lateral thinking not difficult for anyone but a right wing bigot.
- Blimey. I'm a right wing bigot. You've really not looked at my Twitter feed, have you? Or indeed done the teensiest bit of research of any kind. Still, France ought to have been better prepared for a twice in a millennium event. But what matters is you have An Opinion (tm).

- Ok Craig, please tell us the make a model of the highest Fire Fighting cherry picker that you are aware of. Also, please do tell us the psi required to get water from the mains, up over the 55 m walls.
- You’ve obviously no experience of lead work and roofing. Chemicals, heavy lifting, molten heat & precarious practice & great risk is normal. Anything can go wrong anytime. For a church ffs.

- Would be sad to think it was neoliberlism that destroyed an 800 year old national treasure.
