Bruce Emery was a political prisoner of the Clark regime.
Emery defended his home and his family from violent gang associates. When the gang associates attacked him he defended himself.
It is outrageous this poor man was incarcerated by the Clark regime purely for political purposes.
Tall Man
What a slimy creep you really are. How could you use these opportunity in such a way.
You denigrate all the good an organisation does by attempting to push your view on one incident.
I believe in free speech but in this case a little decorum which you obviously do not have would have dictated restraint at this time and in this matter.
You epitomise all that is foul in the socialist left currently and while it is a foul thing I do believe the only way you will ever get it is if you experience such horror yourself.
Swifty
Not only are you a sleazebag, you are also clearly a scumbag.
I don’t often swear Morrissey, but you can just fuck off. Have you no empathy for the Templeman whanau, or is this just another opportunity for you to smear people with whom you disagree politically?
You disgust me.
Morrissey
I wasn’t commenting on the Templeton whanau, I was commenting on the people who sneered and vilified a slaughtered boy and his family, and supported the man who had stabbed him to death.
Don’t be like that cmm. The murdering POS is the real victim in all of this. Give hugs, not jail time. Etc.
(/sarc, obviously)
Morrissey

The murdering POS is the real victim in all of this.
That is precisely the position that the S.S. Trust took towards the man who carried out that knife killing in 2008.
Morrissey
You can downvote the truth, but you can’t change the fact that that is what the S.S. Trust did after that killing in Manurewa.
Disillusioned_Voter
It is no longer the truth, when so much is omitted.
David George
I urge you all to read this: ‘For those of you who want to blame colonisation as the cause, tell that to the victims’ whanau — they’ll spit in your face and tell you it was a drug-addled alcohol-addicted useless Maori father that murdered their child.’ Letter from Ward Kamo, printed in Thursday’s Northland Age. This is one of the incredibly useful things the SST does – providing a network if support to families of victims.
????
Not so.
When a boy was knifed to death in Manurewa in 2008, the S.S. Trust loudly and crudely defended the killer and poured contumely on the dead boy and his family.
Morrissey
Your comment is awaiting moderation.
A supporter of knife crime has just signalled his/her horrible presence. Begone, creep!
Clearly you do. And you’ll be trying to square the description of the S.S. as “supporting families of victims” with their actual record of ridiculing and condemning the family of the victim of that knife attack.
Right, so a story about the murder of a teenaged girl is just a dance floor for you to display your ideological hatred of the sentencing trust?
Morrissey
Right, so a story about the murder of a teenaged girl is just a dance floor for you to display your ideological hatred of the sentencing trust?
“Ideological” hatred? I despise that organization because of what it did, not for any other reason.
Tell me, what do you think of their decision to support the killer of that boy and to deride his mother and family for weeks and months after the killing?
Brian Marshall
No. RRM speaks for many when he says go away. You’re a really awful troll today Morrissey. An innocent girl was savagely beaten and killed and you ignore that and have a go at the SST.
labrator
By your logic you’re a supporter of strangulation. RRM is right, be gone. Sad that you’ve retired to the only place that doesn’t ban people.

Was that the guy that stabbed a drugged up criminal who was tagging his house?
Just fuck off Morrissey. I say that as someone who swears infrequently. You disgust me.
To the Templeman family. I cannot even begin to imagine the horror you have been through. Thank you for sharing this, and I hope it has proved therapeutic. Arohanui.

If this whole episode isn’t sad enough, there’s Greg King being the amazing human being that he was… New Zealand lost a great man with his passing.
Longknives
I have never commented on Greg King before, and I am sure he was a nice enough bloke in his personal life. But I do find his elevation to Sainthood since his death a little perplexing- He didn’t exactly cover himself in glory when he was desperately trying to portray Sophie Elliot as some kind of monster in Court….
Salacious Crumb
I’ve always held the view that Judith Ablett-Kerr allowed the creature Weatherston to testify knowing he would hang himself in front of the jury; such was the repulsive nature of the defendant she was representing. It’s a pity that a more lawyers put legality ahead of justice.
waikatogirl
I imagine Weatherston insisted on testifying? A complete narcissist such as him would have believed he would convince everyone of his total innocence.
Boris Piscina
What do you do though? No punishment will bring her back. No sentence will act as a deterrent, because when dealing with minds like that, none ever have.
I’m all for allowing people to carry whatever form of self-defence they might consider appropriate, but clearly in this case she wasn’t expecting to have to defend herself, and any weapon requires training that young people haven’t had.
I’m of a mind to think that perhaps there is something to be gained by following the early signs, and they are known, that point to children heading in the direction that ends in tragedies such as the above, and monitoring and intervening before they happen; but that in itself can be a slippery slope. On balance I think it might be worth the risk.
I don’t believe there is a cure for the part of the human condition that results in these crimes. But some degree of prevention just might be possible.
My heart goes out to them.
Disillusioned_Voter

One form of self defense which needs to be considered is the capacity to judge when it is not going to work to demand your rights, I think.

Judge Raynor Asher
It’s not just the judges who are piss weak.
The vast majority of our “representatives” are too. There’s a clear appetite in NZ , expressed in referendum , for serious consequences for serious crime, yet the Establishment does nothing , in fact the current mob want to hug a crim even more closely.
Elaycee
It’s not just the judges who are piss weak.
You’re right. I was stunned to read an article once (SST maybe?) that there are 8 POS in NZ who not only took a life once / went to jail / were subsequently released, but then took another life / went back to jail and have been released a second time! Yup… the’re out walking our streets!
labrator yes and there is always scum and excuses for a human being like Morrissey around to make unsavory and distasteful comments to push his arguement.
Swifty
Will Morrissey’s scumbaggery never end?
What an inadequate little man he proves himself to be on here day after day after day.
Sleazy too.

“As bad as it gets” and yet only 8 years, wtf are these judges thinking.
A teenager has been jailed for eight years for the brutal rape of a Hamilton woman in front of her 7-year-old daughter.
The guy should never be allowed out in public again. If he ever offends again I hope his victims are politicians that support such lite sentences. The judiciary and politicians that enable such bullshit to occur really do deserve to become victims of their evil.
To the Templeman family; I cannot even begin to imagine the horror you have been through. Thank you for sharing this, and I hope it has proved therapeutic. Arohanui.
Swifty
Well said KS.
srylands
This is a little off topic but related. This woman and her daughter will never fully recover. The guy gets 8 years.
There must be a way to take the cumulative anger of 92% of the population and train it directly on the the judges who let this happen. I’d be happy with those judges and their families being subjected to anything short of physical violence until they can’t take it any more and quit.
srylands
So he is 17. He will be out at maybe 22. Next time he may kill.
Boris Piscina
If he does, I pray the victim is a crim-hugging advocate.
That offender, Tony Robertson, had a significant criminal record then at age 18 committed a sexual offence and was given 7 years, 6 months by Justice Patrick Keane. He did stay inside until age 26 but only because he assaulted a prison guard so didn’t get parole and instead had some time added on. A couple of months after he got out Blessie was dead.
Longknives
And remember- Andrew Little blames this sort of offending on ‘Racist Police’ and ‘Colonialism’.. I wouldn’t be surprised if sometime soon under this looney Government Lorenz (fucking stupid name) is released and compensated….
Salacious Crumb
Or maybe someone will be waiting for him and ensures he never re-offends because that will ultimately be the end game when society starts to believe the government and judiciary does not hold their safety and interest paramount.
MickMac
Life should be Life. Sorry it’s always been simple for me, destroy another life and you should lose yours. (remember they destroy several not just one.)
The problem I have with The death Penalty is if it’s incorrect theres no way to undo it. However if it is 100% (Like that Burton fellow) then they should be culled from the earth. Otherwise life. (not 10yrs or some such).
Wangas Feral
I actually cried reading that. If I were in their shoes and my darling daughter had been murdered I would be praying that the murderer was released back into the general community.
Elaycee
Do you remember Mark Middleton? His step daughter Carla Cardno was killed by a POS (Paul Joseph Dally) in Lower Hutt many years ago. PJD was jailed but came up for parole. MM told the media (not wise) that if Dally was ever released, MM would kill him. All hell broke loose – and MM found himself in trouble with the Law. It all surfaced again recently when Middleton had to fight deportation.
Go figure.
Wangas Feral
Yes I remember.

That’s the system working as intended.
Morrissey
That’s censorship. I did not swear or pour scorn on any victims—unlike, for instance one “srylands” who claims, contra all evidence, that the victim of that infamous stabbing was “a drugged up criminal”.
Yes they seem to have been removed. That twat was very quick onto this post and was basically trolling , saying nothing to do with this case. Also showed a total lack of common decency or humanity towrds the victims of this terrible case.
He is a POS scum who deserves a lifetime ban from KB , for being a troll.( not for his freely expressed opinion , note , but for being a disgusting heartless troll)
Morrissey
What is “heartless” about pointing out the villainous hypocrisy of the S.S. Trust?
Yes. it is clear he is challenged and thankfully the thread has had some deeply hurtful remarks removed.
I completely understand the extreme tolerance shown by those that run this site attempting to allow free speech but my old man used to say, “your right to swing your arms ends where my nose begins”.
As a man who served his country for 5 years during the second WW I think he backed that statement up.
Morrissey
some deeply hurtful remarks
What did I write that was “deeply hurtful”? I pointed out that the S.S. Trust had defended a knife killer and ridiculed his victim and his victim’s family for months after that. What was “deeply hurtful” about showing up those knife enthusiasts for what they are?
my old man used to say, “your right to swing your arms ends where my nose begins”
Particularly when there’s a knife at the end of your arm. A pity your “old man” never got to meet and influence Mr. Bruce Emery for the better.
An emotional read, I kept thinking of my daughter and how I would cope with such a thing. I can’t claim to understand what it has been like for them, but imagining it is bad enough. The progressive left are undermining basic justice and fairness in our society whilst claiming to do the opposite. This does not end well, when citizens of a nation no longer have any confidence in the justice system, things rapidly fall apart. I hope these people can find some peace.
gump
It was recently revealed on Kiwiblog that South Africans immigrants are statistically more likely to be deported from NZ then almost every other nationality.
And now we learn that an innocent young girl was savagely murdered by a young South African immigrant.
Remind me again why we are allowing people from South Africa to immigrate to New Zealand? They are clearly struggling to comply with our laws, and their criminal offending suggests that they have no respect for our country.
As the writer of the blog piece suggests, we should seriously consider accepting future immigrants from South Aftican on a revokable basis.
mikenmildagain
How about a total and complete shutdown of South Africans entering New Zealand until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on?
rangitoto
At least they are being deported and not given golf lessons instead.
Longknives
We can’t deport people who arrived here as ‘Refugees’. So obviously this Stat re South Africans is a little misleading. Islamic ‘Refugees’ commit probably 200 x the amount of Crime South African immigrants do…
Tall Man
How about not.
Most come here, fit in and become an asset.
Let’s not pillory the whole because of a microscopic few.
I think if deportation was an option there would be vastly more so called kiwis that deserve that treatment more.
Jack5
Tall man, our deportation appeal procedure is extremely weak.
No way should this murderer stay in NZ. Nor should the scumbag on bail who murdered the Auckland girl he was harassing. He is living in comfort in criminal psychiatric detention. He’s got to be thrown out of the country as soon as the shrinks give him clearance, and there is some question as to whether he is psychiatrically ill at all.
Garbageman
How about we just halt all immigration starting with the stone-age cults that like to bring their vile practices with them and then the academics that infest our great country like the parasites they are, you can have South Africans as your number 3 if you so desire although any one of them probably contributes more to our country & way of life than the other two will ever do
wreck1080, I propose we make the death penalty depend on the victim’s family wishes: if they support it, the murderer gets it.
But the issue won’t be general public support, but most of our judges are so corrupt that they wouldn’t ask for it. They give you a few years in prison for murder. That’s how much a life is worth these days.
Old enough to do the crime? Old enough for the punishment.
Jack5
A very sad story.
I hope former Children’s Commissioner Becroft and Andrew Little, who care so much about offenders, read this. Young victims and their families count!
Our judges have become ultra-liberal. The case in Christchurch of a young Muslim refugee caught planning mass murder of locals by car and knife attack proves that. His light non-custodial sentence included counselling at the local mosque, and golf lessons.
Jack5
This case raises an interesting point about the the Immigration and Protection Tribunal.
When it considers appeals against deportation from criminals, do the relevant victims, or their families, have a chance to make submissions?
